We all have our opinions about things. However, sometimes it seems that if one does not agree with the other person’s opinion they are judged as not being right with God. Are we all 100% right with God, 100% of the time? Of course not. We all have our moments. If we did not, we would not need 1 John 1:9. You know what that says I do not need to quote it. We all have those times in life when we disagree with one another. The problem I see is that when there is a disagreement it is not taken to the Lord. I might say here that before a conversation even starts that has some differences of opinions we should first pray and ask the Lord to see it his way not our way.
With the Lord in control, we are less likely to Judge one another, based on our opinion. Not only should we pray, but we should consider what does the Word of God say? If we pray and seek God’s Word, we might find that we either come to the same conclusion or we agree to disagree. Stop being the Judge and Jury. I have always said that at the end of the day, when I pillow my head the only opinion that matters is God’s. If I can end my day knowing I did everything for the Lord then that is all that matters. Anything that I did that day that was wrong I just have to give it to the Lord. (1 John 1:9)
I can have strong opinions sometimes, but I also can agree to disagree and live peaceably with others. It takes both sides to let it go and just be friends. Is it worth having a confrontation with someone to prove your right, rather than just letting it go and letting God be in control? I believe that when we hold on to our opinions and do not give an inch, we are more wrong than whatever the other person may have done in the first place. This reminds me of the verses in Matthew 7:1-2 “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” When we are hard on someone, we should examine ourselves and not be guilty of something ourselves that God will measure to us. Like the ruler who forgave the servant of his debt, but the servant was not willing to forgive his fellow man and he ended up having to pay his debt anyway.
We have a chose; we can judge or we can love. This is my verse for the day: Matthew 5:43-45 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
