We sometimes compare how we look, or what kind of house we live in, or what kind of car we drive, etc. Comparing is where we become discontent. Any kind of discontentment leads to other areas in our life. If we dwell there for any amount of time if will affect us spiritually. Our goal is to stay on the right path, seeking the Lord, and doing our best for Him.
I have to say I am my worst critic. When I start thinking about what others may say or their opinions, I start on a spiral downward. That is where I get the most discontented. I start believing what was said and I build on it. I know that the only opinion that counts is God’s opinion. Which reminds me of the verse in Jeremiah 29:11. So since God thinks good of us and not evil Why do we let other opinions affect us? Answer: our old nature. When we are dwelling on negativity, we are feeding the old nature.
As I continue this journey asking God to change me, I have found that I do not get on that spiral staircase as often. I can stay more focused on what I am doing for the Lord more, than what people are saying. There is contentment when we focus on the Word of God and his path. God is Good!! All the Time. All the Time, God is Good!!
