Today I want to share with you some wisdom from a person who I admire greatly. The one person I have always trusted to tell me the truth, to pray for me and to love me no matter what. As I child I called her Sissy because I could not say her name. My one and only Big Sister.
Often we talk and share many things together. The one thing we talk the most about is the Word of God. It was during one of our most recent conversations that brings me to today. Although I have heard many messages on this verse, I have never really seen it the way she presented it to me. The topic is found 5 times in the New Testament. So if the Lord put it in the Bible more than once it very important.
This is what she said, “Every day, I have to ask God to help me with my own Beam.” (Luke 6:41-42 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.”)
I have thought about that ever since she said it. You see we all have troubles, trials and daily things that we need to take care of. (Just a Sinner saved by Grace) So why are we so concerned with what others are doing. If we focus on the Word of God and chip away the Beam that is in our own life we won’t be trying to take care of someone else’s issues.
It is like when Peter asked about John. (John 21:21, “Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? 22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.) It doesn’t matter what others may or may not be doing. We need to just serve the Lord and do what he wants. We need to just ask the Lord to help us with our own Beam.
