Mother’s Prayer

Mother’s day is this coming Sunday. I think of my children and know that I have done all I can do. They are all adults with their own path in front of them. My husband and I pray for them every day that God would give them wisdom and follow his will for their life. The decision is all on them.

This Mother’s day is really hard for me as there are so many changes taking place in our family. I have to keep trusting the Lord and stay walking on the path he has given me. I have taught my children and I try to live what I have taught them. I cannot do any more. Years from now I pray that they can look and say I stayed on the path, I am still working and living for the Lord.

All we can do as parents is point them in the right direction. (Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”) Always teach them what the Bible says. (Deuteronomy 6:5-9, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”) And just love them no matter what.

As a mother I have tried my best to teach my children to do things according to what the Bible says. When they would do something wrong we would find a verse from the Bible. They have grown up with Bible principles to guide them. I pray that now as adults they will make every decision based on the principles of God’s Word.
