Since I started this journey 8 months ago, I have discovered that my mind is not so activity. What I mean is that before, I would think about everything. Now I find myself just enjoying the peace of God without all that extra drama in my head. It is easier to forget about yesterday and focus on today. What happened yesterday is all over and cannot be redone.
I am reminded of a saying from the movie Green Gables: Today is a new day with no mistake in it. Each day is a new day to start all over. This brings new joys and great peace. There is a new anticipation of what is to come. Dwelling on the past limits what God can do in the present. Living each day fresh and new, helps us to see more of what God has for us. As I tell my Sunday school girls, “We can have a small Ice Cream Sundae or a large one with extra, extra toppings.”
In this quit time I try to think of all the things that the Lord has blessed me with. The question I would ask to someone is this: Can you list 10 things God has blessed you with, without really thinking about it? If you have to think about it, then you have too much going on in your mind. When we can list it all without any hesitation, then we are dwelling in peace.
