How Salty are You?

This week’s Sunday school lesson in on Salt. As I was studying, I wanted to see how many times Salt is mentioned in the Bible. (36 times) Then I was looking for verses that would go with my lesson and there it was. (Genesis 19:26, “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.) Lots wife was not the Salt she should have been. She turned to a pillar of Salt when she looked back. God destroyed the city because there was not even 10 people saved.

We need to have Salt in our Christian walk that helps others to be what God would have them to be. This Salt makes us a better Servant for the Lord. We need to have the right amount of Salt. Too much can turn people away.  Not enough can make them not want what we have. With the right amount of Salt in our lives we can draw people to the Lord.

Salt makes things tasty. It creates a thirst. If we are doing our part, people will want more and more. When we eat something that taste good, we want more. When we are thirsty, we drink more water. God’s word is described as food and as water. When we are helping others to grow in the Lord, we should be helping them to be hungry for more. Creating a thirst for the Word of God.

Last night was Soul winning and my soul winning partner wanted to go see a person she had talked to at the bus stop. The lady was not home, so we knocked on her neighbor’s doors. We knocked two doors and two people accepted the Lord as their Savior. If we would have stopped because the first door no one was home those two ladies would not be saved. We were not out there for just that one, we were hungry to see more people saved.
