Priorities of Life

I have been really busy lately and the things I wanted to write never got put down. Life is like that it can cause us to stop doing things that are important. Not that writing is important, but it is an example. I think the most important thing in our life is our walk with God. No matter what is going on around us, we need to put God first. Circumstances should never dictate our lives. If we are putting God first then the circumstances will diminish faster and we will be happier.

One example is when we are sick. Recently I was stuck in bed sick. I could have just slept the whole time and worked on getting well. However, I chose to still do my Bible time in the morning and put God first. I believe that is why I was not sick for long. God takes care of us, especially when he is first in our lives. Never think that just this one time, after all I am sick, God will understand. Those are the times we need God the most. He wants us to come to him always.

I remember a time I was on vacation and we were with all of my family at a Family reunion. My husband, myself and our three children went out to the car in the morning and did our devotions. Then on Sunday we left everyone sleeping and went to Church. I had a family member say God would understand if you did not go. Really, I do not think so. In Exodus 20:3 the first commandment is “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Anything that come before God is another god. Nothing should come before God; He should always be first.

Paul writes in Hebrews 2:1 “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” What God tells us in Church, in our Bible time or wherever God’s word is used we need to take heed to it and do what we have learned or we can end up where we do not want to be.  (1 Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”) When we neglect the things God has told us to do, we can hurt others.

There are many people watching what we do. Wondering if it is real or just something we do. The Bible gives us a clear warning in Romans 14:13 “Let us not therefore judge one another anymore: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.” If our actions causes someone to not believe in Christ, we are a stumbling block. Then in Matthew 18:6 “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” the Lord states plainly that we need to be very careful what we do and say.
