How Big is Your Faith

I love reading books that tell stories of the past. I love reading about the Faith that pioneers had moving west, the Faith of a women who traveled west as a Mail-order Bride, or the Faith of those facing the hardships during hard times. As I read these stories, I am challenged to look at my own Faith. How big is my Faith?

In this modern age we think that we have it hard sometimes, but have we ever had to raise our own food and scratch out a living. We have every modern convenience at our fingertips. Even in our lowest valleys we have never experienced what people went through during the Great Depression. What about the pioneer living off the land in sod houses? It took lots of word and great Faith to make it through the first couple of years. Their Faith helped them keep going and trust in the Lord to bless them. Passing that on to the next generation was important. Teaching their children to work and strive for the best. Never give up and just trust in the Lord.

While some people are still trying to teach their children the importance of working for what you have, we have a generation that has now clue how to endure hard times. They do not know what it is to have Faith that everything will work out. Approximately 52.1% of children live in homes funded or supplemented by the Government.  They are growing up with a trust in the Government to take care of them and never learn about God. We have a generation of people who have a welfare mentality.

Over the past 21 years I have seen many children, through our Bus ministry, being taught about the Lord. I have seen some of these children grow into Adults and are teaching their children. We cannot reach everyone, but we can reach our corner of the world. We must have Faith to keeping going forward. When we go through hard times, we need to have Faith in the Lord so others can see and learn that they too can make it through. [Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”]

Think about this Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Sharing with others the word of God increases their faith. Luke 6:38, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” When we give the gospel, our faith should be running over, to help someone else start filling their cup. If we do not have our cup running over, we cannot help someone else the way we should.  Sharing our faith not only should be running over to give the gospel, but we should talk about the blessing of the Lord to all around us. If we get excited about the things of God, then it will get others excited. Might I add that the hardships and trials will diminish when we are trusting in the Lord and sharing with others.  We have little ones who are looking at us and they need to know they can have the same faith, the same joy, and have their cup running over. It should be like a fire burning inside, raging to warm others.
