My Mom would say, “The one pointing out others faults is just trying to take the focus off of themselves.” I am reminded of the story in the Bible when Jesus was teaching in the temple and they brought a women to him, who had committed adultery. Jesus wrote on the ground twice and when he stood up the last time all the people were gone. Jesus had said to them, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” (John 8:7)
I am also reminded that when we point our finger at someone, we have three pointing back at us. God knew that we would do this so he gave us a reminder by giving us three fingers pointing at ourselves. As sinners we need multiple ways for God to remind us that we are not perfect. We have short term memory when it comes to sin. In the Bible God repeat things over and over, because we forget. We get so consumed in our own lives we tend to forget what we prayed at the altar about. We hold on to stuff that is not important and forget the rest. Paul said it best when he said the things he should do, he did not do, and the things he should not do, he did.
We need to be very careful when we are pointing out what others are doing wrong. First we must examine ourselves before God. If we are walking with God the way we are supposed to we will not have time to even see others faults. We have a full time job just taking care of our own lives. Every day is filled with new decisions and new temptations. With this daily focus on God we will find that everything works better with God in control.
I will have to post something else I wrote: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde / being schizophrenic. One moment we are nice and sweet, the next we are meaner than a Junkyard dog. You have to admit the human race is filled with many personalities that if we look long enough we can think there is nothing wrong with ourselves. However, we are all in need of Daily examination of what God would have us do.
