I have often thought about music being a part of prayer. Music lifts the soul and brings great joy. At the end of the model prayer it says, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”
Giving God the glory in all things is part of music. It points to Heaven, to His power and his glory forever. Music calms the trouble soul, it uplifts the down hearted, it fills the heart with a joy that just overflows. Life without music would be boring.
When I was a child I took piano lessons. I didn’t get very far. But I remember as a teenager the little I did know about the piano helped me through some really though times. I use to go in the room and just play every piece of music I knew. Some of the songs I would play over and over. Today that one song is still in my memory and I sit down at the piano and play it. There is a calming feeling that rushes over me when I play the piano or listen to music.
Having good gospel music playing in your house or your car is very helpful to keep your spirit right. We are always looking for great music. You can never have enough music to pick from. Different groups have different styles that tough your heart. I could not even begin to tell you how many CD’s we have. We still have records and cassette tapes of music.
As a family we were always listen to music in the car. Sometimes we would just turn the music off and just sing. I love singing with my family. My husband has written many songs. As a family we love to harmonize with his songs. Harmony is balance needed not only in music but in the family. I believe that music is one of the key tools that the Lord has used in our lives to keep that balance. All of my children love to sing and write music. When a melody comes and you work on the lyrics there is this peace with God that overflows.
Music is a prayer of praise to the Lord.
