Many times, there are things that arise that seem overwhelming because of people who want to rise to prominence. Pointing out other’s faults does not elevate us to prominence. Think about this: when we point our finger, we have three pointing at us. Why? God made our hand, so the three fingers remind us we are sinners saved by grace.
First, we are to examine ourselves and see what we are doing that would not please God. We should pray first and ask:
- Is what they are doing something in my own life I need to fix?
- Am I being critical because I have a problem with that person?
- Why am I getting involved?
- Ask God to show you the direction in this problem.
Sometimes we get involved in situations that if left alone God would take care of it. He would do a better job than we do. I believe that if we focus on the fact that God made our hand to point more fingers at our self, we will be less and less accusatory. As we study the word of God and focus on our walk with God, we will stop pointing our finger at others.
Second, we are just Sinner Saved by Grace, called to be a Servant of the Lord. I am not perfect, so I should not expect others to be perfect. God does not look at sin the way we do. If you take a row of blocks, all different sizes and line them up, you will see the difference. But if you lay them down, and just look at the bottom, they all look the same. Man looks at sin like the blocks when you can see the different sizes. Sin is measured in the human eye. But God looks at sin as all the same.
Life is tough enough without trying to find fault in others. The Bible tells us 19 times in the New Testament to love one another. Finding fault is easy because we are all sinners. Showing love is a commandment.
· John (4)
1 John 3:23, “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.”
My thought for the day: Before we point one finger, let the three pointing at us, cause us to examine ourselves.
