Are you Untouchable?

Luke 15:3, “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.”

This past year many of brothers and sisters in Christ have not been in church, because of the covid epidemic. Now that they can come to Church, there is an attitude that, they do not want to come anymore, they have been out of Church too long.  We are not Holy Spirit. We should never give up on anyone. How do we reach them and bring them back to the fold? We must do our part.

We must grow so we can help others grow. Our number one priority is our walk with God. Read your Bible, Pray, be Faithful.  When we have a close walk with God, then we can help others to do the same. Jesus taught us to go to everyone. From the homeless to the rich, we need to care about them. In the old testament Cain asked God, “Am I my brothers’ keeper?” Think about that for a moment. Yes we are. We are to take care of the members who have gone astray.

You must get involved. Send a text, a card or call them. Let people know you care. People do not want to know how much we care; they want to see how much we care. We cannot just do it one time. If someone in your family said they loved you once and never said it again, would you believe they loved you. Action and words go together. The more we show how much we care, the more likely we are to reach them and get them back in Church.

You need to be in Church all the time. If you get someone to come to Church and you are not there, they will not believe you really care. How can we expect others to do right if we are not doing right? If you are always in Church and you greet them every time, then by your example, by your love, they will do the same to others. You know who sits in your area, call them let them know you missed them, make sure everything is ok. Someone helped you to get to where you are.

Sometimes it is inconvenient to do for others. We cannot be untouchable. Helping others to grow and be faithful in church will sometimes be an inconvenience. Sometimes my husband gets phone calls at the most inconvenient times. But as I listen to him take the time to talk to them and just show love, I know he really cares about that person. I know people who have purposely blocked someone’s number because they are annoying to them. When people become annoying to us, we need to pray more and ask God to help us. Everyone is important to God, so they should be important to us.

We need to come out of ourselves and think of others. We need to put others first. Someone helped us to get to where we are. We need to help others to do the same. We are our brother’s keeper. We cannot be untouchable.

Philippians 2:3, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”
