2 Chronicles 6:32-33, “Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house; 33 Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.”
I found this very interesting today as I was doing my Bible time. Solomon had built the Temple for the Lord. He then prayed for the people. He not only prayed for Israel, but he prayed for the strangers. He asked God to hear us when we pray. Think about when this took place, thousands of years before Christ came to pay for our sins.
I hear preachers talk about the two people in the world, the Jews, and the Gentile. In thinking about this, I thought about how God chose the Jews who were an example, that there is only one God. Time and time again God showed his power and other nations feared him and some even declared he was the only God. The children of Israel did not always do what God told them to do. So, God turned to the Gentiles.
Today, God has given all mankind the opportunity to know him and tell the world. Just as in days of old the tasks we have is to tell the world that there is only one true God. We are supposed to go out and share the gospel so all mankind can see and know that God is God. However, we are just like the children of Israel we are not always doing what God wants us to do.
Had the Jews done what they were supposed to, then the world would have known and recognized God. If we would do what God has commanded us to do and evangelize the world. We would see more people following the Lord. But, just as the Jews were slack in obeying, we also have been slack and look at the world around us. More and more, they are not recognizing God as God.
