Are you a Super Star?

I saw this quote a few days ago:

Never get so big in the ministry where you forget

to socialize with people, your not a movie star,

your not the president, your not a big shot, what you are

is a servant to the people.

I have not been able to get the thought out of my mind. How we treat others reflects Christ. Jesus was accused of associating with sinners. He never tried to get close to the high priests or the Pharisees. Everything he did was to help others.

I think we think to highly of ourselves sometime. We are not better than a homeless person, an alcoholic, or a poor person in the projects.  God looks down and sees all of us as Sinners. Romans 3:10. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” I am a Sinner saved by Grace called to be a servant of Christ.

When the Lord looks down on earth he does not see people different from one another. He sees Sinners in need of a Savior. Those of us who are saved need to look at others and see that they need a Savior. It does not matter what their station in life is, they need a Savior. I know this because Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” the word all is everyone God has given life to.  2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

The word all is used again to show that everyone God has given life too, he also wants to give them eternal life. They need us to tell them. Matthew 28:19, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” We have been commanded to tell everyone.

We should not look on the outside of a person and judge them. 1 Samuel 16:7, “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” We cannot see what someone’s heart is. Just because they look like a bum, or has tatoos, or colors their hair a weird color, does not mean they are unsaved. They could be saved and fallen away from God. They could just not be saved. How will you know if you don’t talk to them and share they Gospel. The question is are you doing your part?

Never get so big in the ministry where you forget

to socialize with your people, your not a movie star,

your not he president, your not a big shot, what you are

is a servant to the people.

The quote above can also remind us, that others in the Church need a friend. We cannot judge how someone is acting and know what is in their heart. We are to be a servant and encourage them. The bible tells us to love one another, edify one another, and pray for one another.

The word socialize means to interact.  When we are a Church we should go around and greet everyone. Let them know you are glad to see them in Church. If it is someone who has not been in awhile let them know you missed them and ask if they need special prayer for. Don’t ask for details, God knows the details. Write down their prayer request and personally pray for them. Not everyone puts their prayer need is a prayer bulletin. You might just be the one person God uses to encourage them and help them up. We all need each other at different times in our lives. Let us put others first.
