Are we Numbered?

Many times there are things in the Bible that I ask the question: How does this apply to me today? When I was reading the book of Numbers I was intrigued by this verse. Numbers 4: 49 “According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.”

This phrase “every one according to his service, and according to his burden” reminds me of 1 Corinthians 12 were Paul is talking about the body of Christ. Just as the body has many members, each part has a service to do. 1 Corinthians 12:18, “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.” God has put us all in the place where we should be.

Just as he numbered the children of Israel in the book of Numbers and gave them certain task that they were to do: We are put in the Church the same way. The question is Are we Numbered? Yes, we are all numbered and giving a task to do for the Lord. What is our purpose? Look at the last part of 1 Corinthians 12:18, “as it hath pleased him.” The Lord has given each of us a place of service to please him.

We have a job to do, let us go and serve him so he will be pleased.
