Through the years I have tried to be faithful in reading my Bible through each year. When reading the book of Leviticus, I would often wonder how this applies to us today. When I was talking to a young lady about being careful with our friends, I had this thought come to me. I told her that good does not rub off on others. Their bad no matter how subtle it is, rubs off on us.
I then thought of this illustration of rubbing your clothes in the mud. We are always trying to keep our clothes clean. When we are walking outside or if we are eating we try not to get it on us. The scripture in Leviticus talks about the different plagues. Every time a plague is mentioned, God says that if we near it, we are unclean. The plagues are a picture of sin.
I am reminded of the verse Psalms 6:27, “Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?” We can not be around sin and it not influence us somehow. Whatever we listen to, or watch on TV, or even the people we are around, we are being touched by Sin. We have to lean on the Lord and seek him in order to stay on the right path away from sin.
Would you take your clean white shirt and rub it in the mud? Everywhere you go you are taking the Holy Spirit with you. When you go where you are not suppose to be, or listen to things that are wrong, you are rubbing your life in the mud. You are in control of how you live your life for the Lord.
