Self Aware

Sometimes there are situations that keep us from seeing things in the right mindset. At that moment we are not self-aware of how something is affecting us. We dwell on it so long that we start thinking the wrong things. (Proverbs 23:7a "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:") We can take something that was said and before long we are reacting with anger and lashing out at others. The more we think about something and dwell on the negative side of it, we are now not thinking properly. Negativity is a sticking point for the devil. If he can get into a spiral of thought, then a tornado of negativity consumes us. If we can recognize it before it spirals out of control, then we are self-aware. But if we let it consume us to be angry and lash out at others, then we are falling right into the trap of the devil. We are not self-aware during those times. The Word of God is the best way to stay out of those traps. (Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.") Memorize the word of God. The Word of God is Truth. (Psalms 119:11 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.") I could give a lot of scripture form the Bible that tells us to dwell on God’s words. He directs us in the way we should go. If we dwell on others and what they are doing, we are focused on the wrong thing. When we are pointing our finger, we have three pointing back at us. When we do that, we are being self-righteous. Let me just say that I am wicked and focusing on others just makes me more wicked. We all need to be more self-aware of our own lives. If we are self-aware of our own life and seek God in all things, we will not see what others are doing. The more we seek the Word of God and pray for others, the less we see other’s faults. We all have Sin in our lives. (Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;") The word all in that verse does not exclude me toward others. We all have flaws. We all need to lean on the Lord and keep our eyes on God and God alone.
