“Be Kind to Everyone, everyone is having a rough day.” Dr. Jack Hyles
As human beings we are selfish more often than we are caring for others. When we dwell on ourselves and what we think we need we miss what is directly in front of us. If we take the time to bring hope and cheer to others, we find that our own needs are taken care of. While we are caring for others, someone else is caring for us in return.
Job was asking for someone to care and pray to God for the needs of man. Job 16:21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
David was making an observation that no one cared. Psalm 142:4, I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
Both men were struggling with great problems in their life. They needed someone to care about them. Not only was there no one to care, but they were all alone. All they needed was someone to care for them and encourage them. It is said of David that he encouraged himself in the Lord. If someone else had been there to encourage him he would not have been all alone. We always have God on our side. But God wants us to help each other.
The people of the world in their daily lives without God often do things for other like pay for the person behind them in the drive through. They try to encourage others to pass it on. If someone does something kind to you then pass it on. Practice giving a smile and you will see they give you a smile in return. (Give a ___, Get a ___.) Give a word of encouragement, give a hug, give a helping hand without being asked and see what you get in return.
Does it cost you anything to be kind? Ask yourself how do I want others to treat me? Now go out and treat others the same way. No one ever said they wanted someone to yell and scream at them. No, everyone wants kindness. Kindness reaps kindness.
