Great Peace

Psalms 119:165 (KJV only)
Great
peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Over the past 40 years I have seen people come and go from church. One of the biggest reasons they leave is because they were offended. Why were they offended? They did not have peace. Why did they not have peace? They were not obeying the word of God and having a relationship with God.

Great peace comes from reading and loving God’s word. The more we study the Bible, the more we have peace. The more peace we have, the less edgy we are. We are not just talking about peace; we are talking about Great peace.

There are a lot of people today who go to church, they look and act like a Christian on the outside. Inside however is a different story. They get upset when someone says or does something.  It is always someone else’s fault. Without peace we are on edge and defensive. It is hard to admit we are wrong.

I know that when I am on edge with people, I do not have peace. When I am not focused on my relationship with the Lord, I get defensive. However, when I am focused on my relationship with the Lord, reading my Bible more, praying more and seeing people saved I not only have peace I have Great peace.

When we have great peace with the Lord we are not easily offended. We recognize right away how to react to the situation. Things are going to happen. Most times it is a daily thing. That is why in Romans 12 we are told to present ourselves as a daily sacrifice. Our daily walk with God helps us to let go of things that bother us or upset us. Laying it at the feet of Jesus in prayer. Offences will come. We cannot stop that. We can however, response correctly because we have great peace with God.
