Have you ever put in your username and password only to find you entered it wrong? You get a message saying your username and password do not match. Then you must start all over and put in the right information for it to work. Sometimes you try it repeatedly, only to have to change your password.
How does this apply spiritually?
When we say and do things, we know we should not say or do, this is sin. Sin is like the wrong password it blocks us from getting the blessings of God. This is when we need a reset by asking God to forgive us. (1John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”) Then we can have access to the blessings again.
Many people go to Church and do all the things that they think are right. Going to Church, giving money or doing something in the church for God is like trying the wrong password over and over. Only to someday hear the Lord say, “I never knew you” It will be too late then to get it right. (Matthew 7:22-23, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”) There is only one way to Heaven.
Knowing 100% sure you have the gift of Heaven is like having the right password. To have access to God we need to have the gift of eternal life. After we have eternal life, we still forget and do wrong. We must reset by asking for forgiveness.
