Do you Comprehend?

Yesterday I posted a metaphor about the Username and Password not matching. I got responses that were not related to the post.

I am amazed about how some people only read to respond. I am not looking for responses. I want what I write to be thought provoking and then maybe a response. Sometimes what I write is just words of encouragement.

Reading or listening to what is being said first will often give a different response. When we read something, we should read it for comprehension. Reading is a tool to learn.

When I read the Bible, I am not looking for something that I can write about. First, I am looking for what the Lord has for me. How can I be a better person? I am looking for solutions to my life. Then if there is a nugget of truth that I can share with others, I write the blog.

Having a conversation with someone requires listening to the other person. I get really frustrated with people when they interrupt me thinking they know what I am talking about. Because I know how much it bothers me, I try really hard to let others finish talking.

If we are constantly talking, we are not listening. If we are skimming though what we are reading so we can make a comment, then we are not reading.
