For 10 Righteous

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Lot had not gone with Abram? The Bible says: “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:” Gen.12:1. As we keep reading in verse four it says: “So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.”

In chapter eleven we see that Lot’s father Nahor had died. It also says that his grandfather Terah took Lot, Abram and Sari to the land of Canaan. Then Terah died. This leaves Lot with Abram. We are not sure how old Lot was. We don’t know if he was a child or already an adult. We just know that he went with Abram.

God had told Abram to leave his country, his kindred and his father’s house. Let’s just suppose that Lot was old enough to take care of himself. He should have stayed in Haran. The question is this? If he had not followed Abram, would Sodom and Gomorrah have been destroyed? We would not know because it wouldn’t be part of the story.

I believe that Lot is an example of how we should be a witness to this wicked world. Our world will be destroyed in the end because of the wickedness. Just as Lot did not witness to the people of Sodom and God destroyed the city.

Abraham talked with God and asked him if he would spare the city if there were righteous people there. In chapter 18 verses 23-32 Abraham started with 50 righteous and he kept going till he got to 10 righteous. God told him that for 10 he would not destroy the city. But there was not even 10. Lot did not tell his family much less the whole city about God.

We cannot condemn Lot when there are people in our churches who have not told their family or friends or co-workers about the Lord. It is our responsibility to tell the world about the Lord. Time is running out. The days are coming to an end when the Lord says for 10 righteous, I will not destroy the world.

I want to tell everyone about the Lord and help them know 100% sure that they will go to Heaven someday. Matthew 28:19 starts with a command saying: “Go Ye” It is not an option it is a command. Today is the day of salvation for our world. Today is the day to stand up and tell everyone how to go to Heaven before it is Eternally too Late.
