Who is Watching?

Many times, we think that no one sees us when we are doing certain things. Even when we think we are alone, somehow someone sees.

How do things we think are done in secret become knowledge to others? Are we alone and the things we do hidden? I ponder this thought because of the stories in the Bible. Several times throughout the scriptures is the phrase “we heard” or “we have heard”. How did they hear?

There are two times in the book of Joshua where the people said they had heard of the things God had done to help the Children of Israel. Who told them about the red sea parting? Who told them how the Egyptians died in the red sea? Someone had to see it to tell the people in the land.

The point of this is that there is always someone watching. There is always someone who is willing to tell all they see and know about others.

This is a sobering thought. We need to be aware of our actions, our words and how we conduct our lives. Good or Bad someone is watching and being influenced by what we say and do. According to statistics we influence 2.8 to 3 people daily, adding up to roughly 80,000 people over a lifetime. The question is how are we influenced by people? Is it Good or Bad?

Not only are people watching us, but the Lord himself sees all. There is nothing hid from God. Every word we say is recorded in heaven. Every action is recorded too. This is more important to me than what people see and talk about me. I want my actions and words to influence others for good. Striving to do this daily is not always easy.

When my life is done, I want only good things to be remembered about me. This is not an easy task. Daily I must evaluate my life and make sure what I say and do is what God would have for me to do. I do not know who is watching me besides God. But I know that someone is being influenced by my actions. Who is watching you? How is your life measuring up?
