Stay on the Right Path

1 Samuel 12:21 “And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.”

Sometimes in life we take the wrong path. When we do we find ourselves in trouble. It does not matter what that path may be. This path could be a physical path we are walking or a life path we must take. If we stay on the path we are given we can stay out of trouble.

Let me share a funny story of taking a wrong path. Many years ago my family was hiking. We went off the main path and found ourselves far away from where we were supposed to be. By the time we found our way back to the main path to go home, it was past the time to pick my daughter up from work. Thankful she was able to take the bus home.

Sometimes life is the same way, that is why the Bible tells us to turn not aside. When we tun aside from going the way were are suppose to go we get into trouble. We can find ourselves doing things we should not do. It is a slippery slop when we go the wrong way.

What are somethings that are the wrong way? Music, Friends, Places, Movies. The music we listen to can cause us to listen to the wrong music. Just because the music puts words about Jesus in it does not make it good music. Friends can sometimes get us to do things we should not do. Going places that has things that go against God, can cause us to slide. Watching movies that have worldly things in them causes us to say that it is not that bad. All it takes is a little of the wrong things to become Big trouble.

The Bible tells us that a little leaven, leavened the whole lump. Just a little bit of yeast causes the dough to grow larger. Sin is yeast and going off the path can cause sin to creep in and takes us where we don’t want to go. Getting back on the right path takes longer that it took to get off.

Stay on the right path. Have a walk with God every day. Read your Bible and pray. Keep your eyes straight forward and follow what God has for you.
