As humans we do not do well with the unknown. We want to know and see what is happening. When we do not know something, our thoughts create all kinds of scenarios. What ifs can lead us to wrong conclusions. Sometimes it can even cause us to spiral into thoughts that we would never have thought.
The answer is simple. Human beings want security. When that security feels insecure there is a sense of loss. Security and boundaries are important to survival. If any of that seems out of order, then it affects the daily function of living. Children are not they only ones who need security and boundaries. People of all ages need to know that they are safe and secure.
The mind is like a computer with a lot of information. This information sometimes is jumbled and causes chaos. When there is idle time the mind wonders in many directions. This is not a good thing. There has to be something to replace these wondering thoughts. Proverbs 16:3, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” There are many verses in the Bible to remind us to think about good things. If we change our thinking to something good, the bad will disappear.
When we dwell on the word of God our thoughts can stay pure.Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Don’t let the unknown get you down. Just keep putting God first in all things.
